Donna Rittner Art

As a child living in New Orleans, my love for painting started while sitting in my mother’s studio in the French Quarter.  My artist dreams were pushed aside for many years; however, I began taking several art classes in 2010 and finally recovered my love and passion for painting. 

The simplicity of one color in different tones, tints, and shades has drawn me to the abstract monochromatic style of painting.  Over the years, my style has evolved from years of using just shades of blue (my favorite color!) and white into working with several mediums, techniques, and various colors.  Every one of my pieces begins with a heart drawn in charcoal or graphite somewhere on the canvas which guides me until the painting reveals itself.

The minute my brush touches the canvas I feel a calming but exciting feeling of what the finished piece will become. My hope is that my paintings will bring these feelings to those who love them as much as I do.
